Our Year 3 - 6 students used Recon 6.0 Programmable Rovers to learn about robotics and programming. They all went away wanting one of their own! 

Exploring the Nature of Science

We are very curious at Te Puke Primary School. We used some of our senses and inferencing to wonder about and discuss what a variety of objects might hold or might be... Observing and inferencing are such important capabilities when learning about science.

EJ's Writing

EJ Sigue, a Year 3 student, wrote this about his science lesson on Monday. The lesson was all about observation and discussion - there was no reading material - and he remembered pretty well what was said.

Learning About the pH Scale

We learned about how acid or how alkaline a solution could be when mixed with water. Science capability 1, observing and inferencing, was used. Students would discuss why they think toothpaste has a pH scale of 6 and not 3 for example. 
Capability 3 was also used, critiquing our evidence, when some group's readings were different to the majority. 

Learning to Observe Closely and Make Predictions

Over the last 2 weeks we have been learning to observe like a scientist: we use our sharp eyes and prior knowledge to make predictions.
